About
A former junior lecturer at the University of Lyon 2, France (2003-2006), I completed in September 2010 a PhD at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. The dissertation dealt with the comparison of three communities of the Greek diaspora – namely those of Venice, Livorno and Marseille – between the 1770s and the 1830s. I have published several articles on this issue, and I am currently starting a new research project on “Foreigners, Languages and Interpreters in Early Modern Italian port-cities”. From September 2010 to April 2011, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America, at Columbia University, and started in September 2011 my two-year appointment at Washington University in St Louis.
